Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing & Billing

Our pricing is based on several factors including property size, current condition, specific services needed, and accessibility. We provide free estimates after evaluating your property. For ongoing maintenance services, we offer competitive flat rates or seasonal packages. We're always transparent about our pricing with no hidden fees.

We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). For commercial clients, we also offer payment through ACH transfers and can set up automated billing for recurring services. Payment is due upon completion of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Yes! We offer several money-saving options: multi-service packages (lawn care + landscaping), seasonal contracts with discounted rates, referral bonuses for current clients, and special promotions throughout the year. We also provide volume discounts for commercial properties and multiple property management companies.

While we have no strict minimum, our most cost-effective services start at properties around 5,000 square feet. For smaller properties, we can discuss specialized rates. We believe every property deserves professional care, regardless of size, and we'll work with you to find a solution that fits your needs and budget.

Scheduling

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for seasonal services. For regular maintenance, we can typically accommodate new clients within 1-2 weeks. For large landscape projects, 2-4 weeks advance notice is ideal. During peak seasons (spring and fall), booking 4-6 weeks ahead ensures you get your preferred dates.

Frequency depends on the season and growth rate. During spring and fall, we typically mow weekly. In summer, we recommend bi-weekly mowing to prevent stress on the grass. In winter, we only mow if necessary. We'll work with you to create a schedule that keeps your lawn looking great while promoting healthy growth.

Safety and equipment protection are our priorities. We monitor weather conditions and will contact you to reschedule if conditions are unsafe for our crew or could damage your property. We'll work with you to find an alternative time that works for both parties. We never compromise on quality by working in unsafe conditions.

Absolutely! We understand that life happens and schedules change. As long as you give us 24-48 hours notice, we can usually accommodate schedule changes. For seasonal contracts, we're flexible with rescheduling as long as the work is completed within the contracted timeframes.

Lawn Care

The ideal height varies by grass type and season. For cool-season grasses (fescue, bluegrass), we recommend 3-4 inches in spring/fall and 2-3 inches in summer. For warm-season grasses (zoysia, bermuda), 1-2 inches is optimal. We follow the "one-third rule" - never cut more than one-third of the grass blade at once.

Early morning (4-8 AM) is ideal because it reduces evaporation and prevents fungal diseases. Watering in the evening is okay but can promote fungal growth if the grass stays wet overnight. Deep, infrequent watering (1-1.5 inches once or twice a week) is better than frequent light watering.

Virginia lawns typically benefit from 3-4 fertilizer applications per year: early spring, late spring, early fall, and late fall. The exact schedule depends on your grass type, soil conditions, and specific needs. We customize fertilization programs based on soil test results and seasonal requirements.

Brown patches can be caused by various issues including fungus, pests, dog damage, poor drainage, or drought stress. The first step is proper diagnosis. We offer lawn health assessments to identify the specific cause and recommend the best treatment plan. Quick action often prevents larger problems.

Prevention is key with a thick, healthy lawn. We use pre-emergent herbicides in spring to prevent weeds like crabgrass. For existing weeds, we offer spot treatments and post-emergent applications. Some weeds require specific control methods, and we can identify the best approach for your specific situation.

Landscaping

Our consultation includes a site analysis, discussion of your goals and preferences, preliminary design concepts, plant recommendations suited to Virginia's climate, and a detailed written proposal with timeline and pricing. We'll also discuss maintenance requirements and long-term care considerations.

Timeline varies by project size and complexity. Simple plantings and basic hardscaping might take 1-2 weeks, while comprehensive landscape renovations can take 4-8 weeks. We'll provide a detailed timeline during the planning phase and keep you updated throughout the installation process.

Yes! We offer comprehensive maintenance programs including pruning, fertilization, mulching, seasonal plantings, and general landscape care. We can maintain landscapes we designed and installed as well as existing landscapes. Our maintenance programs are customizable to your specific needs and budget.

Virginia's climate (USDA Zones 6b-7b) supports a wide variety of plants. We focus on native and adapted plants that thrive in our conditions with minimal maintenance. Options include shrubs like hydrangeas, boxwoods, and viburnums; perennials like hostas, daylilies, and coneflowers; and trees like dogwoods, maples, and oaks.

Yes! We install and maintain irrigation systems including traditional sprinkler systems and modern drip irrigation. We can also integrate smart controllers that adjust watering based on weather conditions. All irrigation work includes proper zoning, pressure regulation, and coverage calculations for optimal efficiency.
